Mega yachts are luxury boats introduced to the market in the 80s. Their main feature is to have dimensions exceeding the standards of traditional yachts. In fact, the length of super yachts is about 100 meters, but they can be even longer since there are no limits to their size and tonnage according to the wishes and possibilities of their owners.
Sitemar is proud to have carried out maintenance to the fire extinguishing systems of the largest Megayachts in the world such as the Serene and the Ocean Victory, both proudly manufactured in the Fincantieri plants in Italy, a center of excellence for the production of high-tech ships.
Tugs
Despite their small size, tugs have very powerful engines due to the effort they have to sustain and a very robust structure that allows them to face even prohibitive sea conditions. The tug is one of the most important and widespread boats for naval operations.
The fixed extinguishing systems on board are designed to meet the needs of fire safety according to the various types of rooms of the boat (accommodations, engine room, etc.) and the possible fire scenarios in accordance with the specific regulations established for each type of ship and its intended use (type of cargo and navigation).
In fact, fire protection on board is carried out using detection, extinguishing and structural containment systems as well as non-combustible materials. Among the customers who have chosen our services there is Rimorchiatori Riuniti Spa, a world leader in the sector with its own 120 units.
Merchant Ships

Passenger Ships
Renaissance Cruises, shipbuilding company founded in 1989, has built eight passenger ships similar to yachts, but intended for the luxury tourism sector. They were all completed between 1989 and 1992 in the shipyards of La Spezia and Carrara.
It is precisely here that our experience as installers on large fire-fighting systems begins, experienced and passionate people in the fire-fighting sector, animated by the intent to operate with cutting-edge industrial and commercial technological concepts.
During all these years, this passion has accompanied and made us grow professionally.Taking advantage of our human resources and technical skills, we are able to operate at 360° in the vast field of firefighting in the naval sector, from the supply, testing and maintenance of portable equipment, to the design, installation, maintenance and testing of fixed systems.
Military Ships
Daily life on board is not immune to fires, but a professional fire extinguishing system protects key areas. It is precisely for this reason that military ships, today more than ever, must have an operating environment in which the military personnel can concentrate on the most important tasks and can feel safe thanks to a modern fire protection.
In areas particularly at risk of fire, a local protection is increasingly required in addition to or instead of the main fire extinguishing system. For this reason, water, foam, gas or Twin Agent extinguishing systems are used in some areas of the ship.

Ships in outfitting or modernization
Fire is the most serious risk both to the lives of personnel and the safety of the ship. In the design and construction of the naval unit, it is therefore necessary to equip the ship with efficient fire-fighting systems. On-board, fire protection systems are complex safety systems that must be absolutely reliable in case of emergency.
During the long life of a ship it may be necessary to optimize the existing installations by updating them to the new regulations and improving their processes. In this regard, Sitemar offers specific revamping and refitting programs to ensure that the fire protection equipment is always up to date and continues to have the maximum efficiency.
One of the latest projects has given us the opportunity and privilege to work on the training ship Amerigo Vespucci, which as a representative of the Italian Navy, is considered by many to be the most beautiful sailing ship in the world.
